Ontario Judo Team Strikes Gold in The Yukon

Currently the 2007 Canada Winter Games are taking place in Whitehorse, Yukon. The final Judo events wrapped up on Friday, March 2^nd. At the conclusion Judo Ontario ended up taking home 15 medals, which included 4 gold, 6 silver and 5 bronze.

Judo Ontario Team Manager, Brian Kelsen said that this was

“One of the best organized events I have ever been too,

everything from organization to the hospitality was great. The Yukon people were wonderful.”

Our gold medalists included:

Level II Pilot Technical Course

Anyone who has taken the CBET B theory course (Introduction to Competition) are eligible to take the new Level II Pilot Technical course, which is being hosted by Judo Canada in Burlington on March 31^st and April 1^st, 2007. This is a free course.

All those that meet the criteria of age and required Belt levels that are wishing to take this course, should take the CBET B course on March 24^th and 25^th in Burlington. The cost for the CBET B course is $100 prepaid with the cheque being made out to Walker Enterprises. Anyone who has previously taken CBET B are invited to attend the theory course as a refresher prior to the new NCCP Judo Technical course.

**Level I Dojo Assistant and CBET A are not a requirement prior to the previously mentioned course, but will have to be completed in the future (some time this year).**

It would be wise for those wishing to become Level II coaches to take this opportunity and for anyone who has already completed CBET B to sit in and review at least the introduction to the competition and YTP as there will be considerable emphasis on this at the Level II Technical Pilot course.

The 2006 National Grading Syllabus and Recommendation  forms are available on the Judo Canada website:

www.judocanada.org All documentation and grading fees must be received by March 2^nd, 2007 for verification. No application will be accepted without a Judo Canada passport. Please send all documents directly to the secretary of the Judo Ontario Grading board, June Takashi c/o Takahashi Dojo.

8.   The Provincial Grading Board has identified when gradings will be held and in what region. All gradings around the province will be open to all members despite where you live. In addition, the grading board may be holding other seminars throughout the year. A proposed schedule for next year is as follows:

     As a reminder, all provincial gradings will be forwarded to the membership 60 days in advance. This will allow members 30 days to review and submit their forms. This will allow the office 30 days to receive and review all applicants’ recommendation forms.
