As you may all have noticed a fancy new Aikido club has moved into the Takahashi Dojo! As a result there was a massive cleanup and our family room has lost some of its former charm!
The Universal fitness system is there temporarily! So do not panic! If you are interested in buying it Contact June Sensei.
Also, does anyone have any extra sofas, chairs, blinds etc. they might like to donate to that room to increase its comfyness? It is a great place for parents to study and kids to do their homework. If so contact Tracey!
Cheers

Well, the day of the tournament finally arrived.
I was feeling good this morning. To sum it up for those of you that don’t want to read the details: I ended up 7th, with a bye, one win and 2 losses. A little disappointing, considering I was winning my last match until the last minute and a half and then wasn’t smart the last little bit.
If I had won that one, I would have been in the bronze medal match, and could have definitely won a medal. Here are some more details: - First match was against a girl from the Netherlands (Jennifer Wickers?): I had a tough time with her gripping style and basically lost by waza-ari because of grips. She went on to win the silver. - 2nd match was against a Danish girl: Won by ippon after throwing her for waza-ari with delgado and holding her down. - 3rd match was against a Japanese girl: I was pretty much dominating the fight, and was winning initially by 2 yukos (left kouchi makikomi and tani-otoshi), and then she scored a yuko (which was really a koka), and I got little too comfortable with her attempts at uchi-mata (trying to counter with delgado again). She ended up throwing me for waza-ari with uchi-mata and held me down. It really sucks because she ended up winning the bronze against Jennie Andreasson of Sweden, and I should have beaten both of them.
- Other canadian results: Jennie Bonsant won gold in 63 - it was a small category…only 7. Joliane won gold in 57. She looked good. It’s just frustrating to know I’ve beaten her a few times before. Bianca ended up fighting 52 because they were only 2 in 48. She was sick today and ended up 0-2. - We were 15 in my category. So, the plan for the rest of the week is to go to the training camp on Monday and Tuesday (hopefully a lot of people will stay), and do a little sightseeing on Wednesday. I may or may not write again while I’m here. Internet is expensive.

Hi everyone,
Just a heads up to let you know that the Ontario Junior Tournament will be held on Sunday, May 27. Last year there wasn’t a lot of time between knowing the date and going to the tournament, but this year you can plan well ahead. I’ll send you all the registration information when it arrives (late April) and the tournament will be open to all juniors, including those who will turn 16 this year. For more senior members the UofT tournament will be held some time in June and there’s the University of Waterloo anniversary tournament on July 21.
Have a great day!
Katherine
